Purpose:

To evaluate the fixation pattern and its relation with preferred retinal locus in eyes with Stargardt disease.

Methods:

MP-1 microperimetry analysis of fixation patterns in 26 eyes of 13 patients with Stargardt disease was done. Patients visual acuity has changed 1/10 to 2/10. The preferred retinal locus was determined and it's relationship with central scotoma was evaluated.

Results:

All eyes had an established preferred retinal locus and all eyes also placed the scotoma above the fixation. Fixation was unstable in 17 eyes (65%) and relative unstable in 9 eyes

Conclusion:

Our results showed that microperimetry is an important method for the evaluation of preferential retinal locus and its relationship with fixation in patients with Stargardt disease.
